You know, there are a lot of simliarities bewteen St Louis and Cincinnati...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually, there are not. The riff raff gravitate towards East St. Louis, IL. Here in the (ahem) Queen City, they gravitate towards Cincinnati and OTR.

Back in the day, Greg, the riff raff gravitated towards Newport. The folks in Newport cleaned it up and now a large part of the entertainment bucks from Ohio are spent in KY.

This city is doomed.

Actually, what I meant gae was that much of the focal point of the cities identity is the riverfront. Both Covington and Newport have worked on their riverfront areas and continue to just as Cincinnati built the two new stadiums, the underground railroad museum, the reds museum and are still working on getting the banks project started. They even fixed up that purple bridge so that people could walk accross (although there are walkways on all the bridges in that area)
I was merely stating that when you see photos of St Louis, generally it's the riverfront just as it is here in Cincinnati.

Wink

From St Louis

ST LOUIS CASINOS

You'll notice that one is located pretty much right below the arch and another rigth accross the river from it.

In the same area as their major sports arenas.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?!?!!?

You know, there are a lot of simliarities bewteen St Louis and Cincinnati...

About a month ago, I walked through Newport on the Levee and was amazed by the number of empty spaces inside the building. Couldn't help but notice that the Bamboo Club shut down, the latest of closings. Truth the told, NOTHL doesn't appear to be someplace where gae would visit.

Street level activity with Hofbrauhaus, Upstar Crow, and Tropicana is bustling, but walk up a few steps and it tells a different story.

If I go to NOTL it's generally for a specific purpose. It's either the aquarium, a movie, or to se a comedian at the funny bone. Sometimes I do stop at a bar or something afterward or before, and that is pretty much always Bar Louie (they're always cool to me in there). I'll stop up there if I am at a festival down below the levee sometimes as well to cool off. Actually, I used to hit gameworks but it's been a while (havent actually been to the movies down there in a while either).
Anywho, your point in valid (hold on I actually agreed with you on something ) the lack of actual shopping down there is glaring. There is no "hub store" unless you want to consider the bookstore the hub. It's an entertainment complex, more than a mall.

For the record I have never been in Upstarcrow, or the Hofbrauhaus but they do seem to do a good business and I may venture in there sometime.
I have never been to tropicana.

One big contrast between our respective cities is that their red and white baseball team plays past the first weekend in October....
